Global Market Outlook: April 2016 – the Fed rally continues

A very cautious United States Federal Reserve has been the major driver of global markets in recent months. The Fed’s “dovishness” – or hesitancy about raising interest rates despite America’s ongoing economic recovery – has supported equity returns relative to bonds, and helped push up the Australian dollar.  That said, we retain a cautious view of equity markets and the Australian dollar – especially at current levels – as we believe that not much has changed in the global outlook apart from the Fed’s surprising degree of lingering caution.

Hello, nothing has been posted for ages re HVST product. What are your thoughts re this strategy. I am heavily invested but was wondering if I should purchase more based on lower price of product? I bought at $25.
Would appreciate some thoughts. Cheers, Glenda.

      Hi Glenda,
Thanks for your inquiry and apologies for the delay in getting back to you.
HVST has a particular set of objectives which may not make it appropriate for all styles of investor. We have recently written a paper that re-introduces the key aspects of the HVST fund that may be useful for you – https://www.betashares.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2017/06/Revisting_HVST_Strategy_final.pdf
As a fund yielding around 10% per year, a certain level of capital decline can be expected unless the stock prices increase by more than the distribution. This will be true even if the total return of the fund is positive.
