Despite flat global equity performance, Australian equities and listed property posted good returns among major asset classes during July, reflecting the ongoing yield chase by investors and more upbeat news from the mining sector. Emerging markets also posted a decent return, helped by a rebound in Chinese stocks. Commodity prices, however, fell further, due to improved agricultural growing conditions in the United States – while bonds and cash eked out modest returns.
