David Bassanese has been Betashares’ Chief Economist since mid 2014. Prior to his role at Betashares, David was a senior financial commentator with The Australian Financial Review. David’s previously worked in economic roles at Macquarie Bank, the Federal Treasury and the Paris-based Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD). He is author of Australia’s definitive book on exchange traded funds, The Australian ETF Guide. David has an Honours Degree in Economics from the University of Adelaide, and a Master in Public Policy from Harvard University.

Louis is a member of the Betashares Investment Committee and is responsible for overseeing the Portfolio Management function at Betashares, which covers both the Exchange Traded Funds and Multi-Asset portfolio management teams. Louis has been with Betashares since 2009 and before joining Betashares, held positions at nabInvest, Rand Merchant Bank (RMB), and KPMG Inc in various locations including London, Johannesburg, and Sydney. He holds a professional qualification as a Chartered Accountant (CA (SA)) and is also a CFA Charterholder. He has a Bachelor of Business Science (First Class Hons) and Post Graduate Diploma in Accounting from the University of Cape Town, South Africa.

Chamath is the Head of Fixed Income at Betashares and is a voting member of the firm’s Investment Committee. He is responsible for managing the fixed income ETFs and leading the fixed income product development initiatives. In addition, he shares responsibility for the strategic and dynamic asset allocation decisions for the Betashares model portfolios. Previously, Chamath was a fixed income trader at the Reserve Bank of Australia, working in their FX reserves management function in Sydney and London. There, he managed the RBA’s Japanese and European government bond portfolios across a range of market conditions. Chamath holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree (First Class Honours in Finance) from the University of Melbourne. He is a CFA® charter holder and has sat on the Bloomberg AusBond and Global Aggregate Index Advisory Councils.

Thong is responsible for supporting the portfolio management function at Betashares and leading our equity capabilities. Before joining Betashares, Thong was an Equity Analyst at a boutique Funds Management company (Three Pillars Portfolio Managers), where his responsibilities included systems development, risk management and securities analysis across a broad range of companies on the Australian Securities Exchange. Prior to TPPM, he worked in the Future Directions multi-manager team at AMP Capital Investors where he was responsible for the manager selection and portfolio construction of a number of multi-manager funds. Thong is a CFA® Charterholder and has a Bachelor degree in Actuarial Studies with Honours and a Bachelor degree in Commerce (majoring in Finance) from the Australian National University.

Cameron heads up Betashares Investment Strategy and Research team. His responsibilities include providing thought leadership, assisting clients with portfolio construction across all asset classes, product development and researcher relationships. Cameron is a voting member of the Betashares Investment Committee. Prior to joining Betashares, Cameron was a portfolio manager at Macquarie Asset Management, and was responsible for the structuring and management of Macquarie’s listed and unlisted structured product offering. Cameron’s other experience includes Head of Product at Bell Potter Capital, working on JP Morgan’s Equity Derivatives desk and at Deloitte Consulting. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Western Australia and a Master of Commerce (Hons) from the University of New South Wales.

Daniel is a senior portfolio manager in the multi-asset function. Prior to joining Betashares, Daniel was a multi-asset portfolio manager for the Russell Investments portfolios, working in Sydney. Daniel was responsible for the managed accounts, managed funds and superannuation funds at Russell Investments. Daniel is a CFA® Charterholder and also holds a Bachelor of Accounting & Finance degree from Monash University, Melbourne.
