Overview

Fund objective

To provide an investment return that aims to track the performance of the FTSE Developed Markets Select ex Australia Fundamental Value Index, before taking into account fees and expenses.

Fund strategy

GVAL aims to track the performance of an index (before fees and expenses) that comprises up to 750 global developed markets companies, weighted based on the size of their sales, cash flows, book values and dividends, rather than their market capitalisations.

Benefits

Driven by fundamentals

The strategy uses sales, cash flow, book value and dividends to determine how much of each company the portfolio holds, linking portfolio weights to the size of the underlying businesses rather than share prices. This approach sells shares that have become expensive relative to their fundamentals and buys those that have become cheaper, aiming to deliver superior long-term performance compared with market-cap weighted indices.

Capturing value through a diversified approach

Traditional value strategies often focus on stocks considered inexpensive based on conventional valuation metrics. GVAL takes a broader approach, holding up to 750 of the largest companies across developed markets and spanning all sectors. This provides broad, diversified global equity exposure with a value tilt, rather than limiting the portfolio only to the cheapest stocks.

Complementary global equity diversifier

GVAL can be considered for use alongside a market-cap weighted portfolio or as a targeted value factor allocation. Its fundamental weighting approach provides a return profile that differs from traditional market-cap weighted indices and other investment styles, making it a complementary allocation within a broader global equity portfolio.

There are risks associated with an investment in GVAL, including market risk, international investment risk, foreign exchange risk and index methodology risk. Investment value can go up and down. An investment in the Fund should only be considered as a part of a broader portfolio, taking into account your particular circumstances, including your tolerance for risk. For more information on risks and other features of the Fund, please see the Product Disclosure Statement and Target Market Determination, both available on this website.

Past performance is not an indicator of future performance. Returns are calculated in Australian dollars using net asset value per unit at the start and end of the specified period and do not reflect brokerage or the bid ask spread that investors incur when buying and selling units on the ASX. Returns are after fund management costs, assume reinvestment of any distributions and do not take into account tax paid as an investor in the Fund. Returns for periods longer than one year are annualised. Current performance may be higher or lower than the performance shown.
