10 facts about the world-famous Nasdaq 100

2025 marks 40 years since the establishment of the Nasdaq 100. Although officially it’s an index of the 100 largest non-financial companies listed on the Nasdaq stock exchange, it has since become widely known as the ‘destination’ for investing in America’s mega-cap technology stocks.

And while there have been shaky periods, the index has delivered 13.92% p.a. in compound returns since its inception in January 1985 (as at 31 March 2025).
