Critical Minerals ETF
Overview
Notice: Changes to XMET's name, underlying index name and index methodology
Effective 3 August 2026, the Betashares Energy Transition Metals ETF was renamed the Betashares Critical Minerals ETF. The Fund's Index has also been renamed to the Nasdaq Sprott Critical Minerals Select Index along with certain other changes to reflect the broader end-use applications for the underlying minerals. These changes are descriptive only and do not change the substance of the Index methodology. Further details can be found in the ASX announcement and Supplementary PDS.
Fund objective
XMET aims to track the performance of an index (before fees and expenses) that provides diversified exposure to companies across the critical minerals industry.
Critical minerals are essential inputs into the technologies and infrastructure reshaping the global economy. They include copper, lithium, nickel, cobalt, graphite, manganese, silver and rare earth elements.
Benefits
A strategic exposure in a multipolar world
Critical minerals are no longer just an energy transition story. They sit at the intersection of electrification, energy storage, AI infrastructure and national security, with governments worldwide deploying policy and capital to secure supply, build reserves and defence capability, and back key producers.
Diversified exposure across the critical minerals industry
In one ETF, XMET provides global exposure to companies mining and processing a range of minerals that are critical to modern economies.
Long-term growth potential
Demand for critical minerals is being driven by the rapid growth of the technologies and infrastructure that depend on them. With new supply often costly, complex and slow to develop, these constraints may support the sector’s long-term growth potential.
There are risks associated with an investment in XMET, including market risk, international investment risk, commodity price and critical minerals company related risks, and concentration risk. Investment value can go up and down. An investment in the Fund should only be considered as a part of a broader portfolio, taking into account your particular circumstances, including your tolerance for risk. For more information on risks and other features of the Fund, please see the Product Disclosure Statement and Target Market Determination, both available on this website.

Past performance is not an indicator of future performance. Returns are calculated in Australian dollars using net asset value per unit at the start and end of the specified period and do not reflect brokerage or the bid ask spread that investors incur when buying and selling units on the ASX. Returns are after fund management costs, assume reinvestment of any distributions and do not take into account tax paid as an investor in the Fund. Returns for periods longer than one year are annualised. Current performance may be higher or lower than the performance shown.
